Sandwich Platter Catering in Medellín

Medellin Elite Catering delivers sandwich platters, wraps and boxed lunches to offices, training rooms, coworking spaces and homes across Medellín. Bread comes out of the oven the same morning, the fillings are roasted and sliced in our kitchen, and every platter is assembled only a few hours before it leaves in our refrigerated van.

Our sandwich catering is built for meetings that cannot stop for a long lunch, workshops that need food on a side table, film crews, school committees and families hosting a casual afternoon. Each order is labeled by filling and allergen, so nobody has to lift the top slice to see what is inside.

We have prepared food for Medellín offices and homes since 2019, and sandwiches teach a lesson in timing. A good sandwich at 9:00 a.m. can be a soggy one at noon, so our whole process is planned backwards from the moment your team sits down.

Our Sandwich Platter Catering

We prepare sandwiches in two formats: shared platters that sit in the middle of a table, and individual boxed lunches that each person takes away. Platters look generous at a meeting and let guests mix fillings, while boxes are better for trainings, site visits and any event where people eat at different times. Each boxed lunch holds a sandwich, a small salad, fruit, a sweet and a drink, packed in compostable boxes.

Most of our sandwich orders go to offices on the Milla de Oro, in Ciudad del Río and in the industrial zones of Itagüí, often as part of our corporate lunch catering contracts. Families also order them for baptism afternoons, house moves and children's events, where a mix of sandwiches and fruit is easier than a hot meal.

Breads and Fillings

Our breads are baked the morning of your delivery, either in our combi ovens or by a partner bakery in Medellín that we have used for years. We match each bread to a filling, because a soft brioche bun and a crusty baguette hold moisture very differently.

Vegetarian fillings make up at least a quarter of every mixed platter unless you tell us otherwise. Gluten-free bread is available with 48 hours' notice, and those sandwiches are wrapped individually so they never touch the wheat ones on the tray.

Platter Sizes

Our platters come in three sizes, all cut into halves so guests can try two fillings. Each platter carries up to four fillings, and larger orders mix several platters so the table looks full until the end.

Large6030 people4
Mini sandwich platter50 bites10 to 12 people4

For a team of 45, we usually send one large platter, one small platter and a fruit or salad platter on the side. Mini sandwich platters suit cocktail hours and afternoon tea, and they pair well with the bites on our finger food catering menu.

Keeping Sandwiches Fresh

A sandwich stays fresh when wet ingredients never touch the bread and the platter stays cold until it is opened. We spread a thin layer of butter, mayonnaise or cream cheese edge to edge, which acts as a moisture barrier, and we place tomato and cucumber between the meat and cheese instead of against the bread.

Lettuce is washed, disinfected and dried in a spinner, because a few drops of water ruin a slice of bread in an hour. Dressings, extra mayonnaise and pickles travel in small separate cups, and wraps are rolled tight in film and cut only at the last moment.

Platters are assembled 2 to 4 hours before delivery and held at 1 to 4 °C in our kitchen fridges and refrigerated van. Once a platter is out of the fridge, we recommend eating it within 2 hours, so each tray carries a label with its delivery time; if your meeting starts later, keep it in the office fridge until then.

Delivery Times and Routes

Drop-off orders need 48 hours of notice, and we deliver Monday to Saturday from 6:30 a.m. Sunday deliveries are possible for events, booked in advance with our catering delivery team.

We plan routes around Medellín's morning traffic and the pico y placa restrictions, which can add 15 to 20 minutes on the Avenida Las Vegas and Avenida El Poblado corridors. Orders for catering in Itagüí take 30 to 45 minutes from our kitchen.

Questions and answers

Sandwich FAQs

How many sandwiches per person?

Plan on 2 full-size sandwich halves per person for a working lunch, or 3 when sandwiches are the only food. For mini sandwiches and cocktail rolls, allow 4 to 5 pieces per person, and add a salad or fruit platter if the meeting runs through the afternoon. Teams of young adults and site crews eat about one extra half each.

Can you deliver early for morning meetings?

Yes, we deliver from 6:30 a.m. for breakfast meetings and early trainings when the order is confirmed 48 hours ahead. Early deliveries use the same refrigerated van, and the driver leaves the platters covered and labeled with the time they should be eaten by. For a 7:00 a.m. start in El Poblado or Laureles, we arrive between 6:30 and 6:45.
