Family lunch buffet on Laureles house patio

Catering in Laureles

Catering in Laureles, Medellín

Laureles is the closest zone to our kitchen, and Medellin Elite Catering has been feeding its family lunches, graduation parties and match-day gatherings since 2019. A van leaving our production kitchen usually parks on a Laureles street within 15 to 30 minutes.

Most of our Laureles clients are families in two-story houses, small businesses around the parks and La 70, and students or faculty from the universities on the western side of the river. A growing number are expats who moved here for the tree-lined streets and walkable cafés.

Years of deliveries here have taught us the quirks of this district: curving circulares that confuse map apps, wide patios that make setup simple, and stadium crowds that can lock a whole perimeter on a Sunday afternoon.

Catering in Laureles and Estadio

We cater across Comuna 11, Laureles-Estadio, the planned residential district between the Medellín River and the western hills. It runs from the university blocks near the UPB to the sports complex around the Atanasio Girardot stadium.

The work here is mostly home-based and family-sized. Typical orders are Sunday lunches for 20 to 60 relatives, first communions and graduations in rented salons, and drop-off platters for shops and clinics around Avenida Nutibara and Carrera 70.

Because the drive is short, Laureles also gets our most flexible delivery windows, for drop-off orders and staffed events alike.

Laureles and Estadio Neighborhoods

The comuna has 15 official barrios, and we deliver to all of them. Here are the ones where we cater most, and what each means for an event.

Catering in Laureles Homes

A Laureles house is one of the easiest places in Medellín to cater, because most homes sit at street level with a patio, a garage and sometimes a second-floor terraza. There is no tower administración to approve the event, no service elevator to book and no portería list, so our team can unload straight from the curb.

A garage is a gift on event day: we turn it into the plating station or the buffet line, which keeps the family kitchen free for the hosts. Street parking for our van is usually available within half a block, although the curves of the circulares mean we sometimes double back to find a legal spot.

The trade-off is space for large groups. A typical house patio seats 30 to 50 comfortably, so for 80 guests we plan a buffet in the garage with cocktail tables on the patio, or suggest a nearby salon.

Laureles houses often share walls with the neighbors, so we keep load-out quiet after 10:00 p.m. and stack crates inside the garage rather than on the sidewalk. If your patio has no cover, we will ask about renting a small tent during the April to May and October to November rains.

Our family gathering catering is built for exactly these homes. A Sunday buffet of sancocho, frijoles, chicharrón, rice and arepas for 60 relatives runs with 3 servers, and our team handles setup and full cleanup.

Dessert table in Laureles garage party

Laureles does not follow the usual Medellín grid of calles and carreras. The architect Pedro Nel Gómez laid the district out from 1943 as rings of circulares and diagonal transversales radiating from the UPB chapel, so streets bend around the parks instead of running straight.

That plan is lovely to walk and hard to deliver to. Map apps often drop a pin on the wrong arc of a circular, and the same carrera can meet two different circulares a block apart.

For every Laureles booking we ask for three details. We need the full address with its circular or transversal number (for example, Circular 1 with Carrera 73), the nearest park or landmark, and a photo of the front door or the garage where we should unload.

Events Near the Stadium and La 70

The Atanasio Girardot stadium is home to Atlético Nacional and Independiente Medellín, and it also hosts the city's biggest concerts. On those days, transit authorities close lanes and whole streets around the Unidad Deportiva, often along Avenida Colombia (Calle 50) and between Carreras 70 and 74.

Many of our Estadio clients host pre-match gatherings at home or in a salon before walking to the game. Our tailgate catering packs chorizo with arepa, empanadas, chicharrón and cold drinks in insulated boxes, timed to finish an hour before kickoff.

Carrera 70, known locally as La 70, is the district's busiest strip of bars and restaurants. We cater birthdays and office parties in salons just off La 70, and we plan load-in for mid-afternoon, before evening crowds fill the sidewalks.

University Events Nearby

The Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana's main campus sits in Laureles at Circular 1 No. 70-01, between Avenida Nutibara and Avenida Bolivariana. The Corporación Universitaria Adventista (UNAC) is also nearby, and several other campuses sit within a short drive.

That puts Laureles at the center of graduation season. Families book lunches at home after the ceremony, and our graduation party catering plans those menus around the ceremony time so food is ready when everyone walks in.

Faculties, research groups and student associations book us too. Our university catering covers coffee breaks for conferences, boxed lunches for workshops and receptions for visiting professors, plus breakfast and coffee service for early sessions.

Questions and answers

Laureles Catering FAQs

Can you deliver on match days near the stadium?

Yes, as long as the delivery lands before the police and transit perimeter closes around the Atanasio Girardot. We schedule match-day drop-offs to arrive at least 3 hours before kickoff, and for addresses inside the closure zone we confirm the exact street that stays open with you the day before. Staffed events near the stadium get an earlier crew arrival on match days.

Do you cater in Laureles party salons?

Yes, we cater in the salones de eventos around Laureles and Estadio regularly. Before quoting we ask the salon three things: whether there is a sink and counter we can use, how many outlets are free, and what time the hall must be empty. Many salons have only a small service kitchen, so we arrive with food finished and held in insulated carriers and use the space for plating.
