Film Set Catering in Medellín
Medellin Elite Catering feeds film, series, commercial and music video crews shooting in Medellín and across Antioquia. Our kitchen has supplied productions since 2019, from a two-day ad shoot in Laureles with 30 crew to multi-week series units moving between city streets and fincas in the eastern highlands.
We work for local production companies, service producers bringing foreign projects to Colombia, and agencies shooting campaigns for international brands. Line producers and production coordinators book us because we read a call sheet the way they do, and because the coffee is hot at 5:00 a.m.
Years of production work have taught our crew that a set has its own rules: meals move when the light moves, craft services never closes, and every department eats at a different time. Our bilingual coordinators work in English and Spanish with foreign producers and local crews alike.

Our Film and Production Catering
We provide three services for productions: crew breakfast at call time, a hot meal at the first meal break, and a craft services table that runs all day. Longer days add a second meal, and night shoots get the same full menu at 1:00 a.m. that day shoots get at noon.
Crews range from 15 people on a commercial to 120 on a series unit with background actors. Background talent and crew can be fed from the same line or from separate menus, as the production prefers.
Every service is planned from your schedule and call sheet, not from a standard package. Send the shooting days, locations and estimated headcount, and we return a day-by-day plan with timings and staffing. Productions applying for the Fondo Fílmico Colombia incentive under Ley 1556 of 2012 receive a DIAN-validated electronic invoice for each shooting week, with food itemized separately from rentals and travel.
Meals Built Around the Call Sheet
We time every meal from the call sheet: breakfast is ready 30 minutes before general call, and the hot meal is served when the assistant director calls the break, usually about six hours after call. If a call time changes overnight, the production coordinator updates us by email before 7:00 p.m. and we adjust the kitchen schedule.
Breakfast is substantial because crews work physically from the first minute: scrambled eggs with hogao, arepas with cheese, calentado (Colombian breakfast rice and beans), fruit, yogurt, bread and plenty of coffee. For early unit moves we offer a walking breakfast of wrapped arepas, fruit cups and coffee in travel cups.
The hot lunch is a full meal with two proteins, rice or potatoes, a vegetable, salad and dessert, served from a buffet line so 60 people can eat inside a 30 minute break. On days longer than 12 hours, a second meal of sandwiches, soup or empanadas keeps energy up through the last setups.
Craft Services Table
Craft services is the snack and drinks table that stays open from call to wrap. We stock it with coffee, tea and aromáticas, bottled water and electrolyte drinks, fresh fruit, nuts kept in a sealed container away from the main snacks, granola bars, sandwiches and Colombian classics like pandebono, bocadillo with cheese and obleas.
A craft services attendant refreshes the table every two hours, swaps the morning pastries for savory snacks after lunch and keeps ice in the coolers on hot days. On sets in the cooler eastern highlands, around Rionegro and La Ceja, we switch the afternoon lineup toward soup cups and hot chocolate, because temperatures there can drop sharply after 4:00 p.m.
For small commercial shoots, we can supply craft services alone as a delivery, with coffee in thermal dispensers and a refrigerated box of snacks that lasts a full day. Our catering delivery service handles drop-offs anywhere in the city.
Catering on Location
We cater on location anywhere in Antioquia, from street shoots in the city to fincas and towns hours away. Inside Medellín we bring meals in insulated Cambro carriers and serve them from tables under a tent, near the base camp but away from the shot.
Street shoots in Laureles, the Centro and the hillside comunas usually have little space, so we keep the footprint to two tables and coordinate parking for our van with your locations team. For catering in Laureles and nearby neighborhoods, our van usually reaches the set in 15 to 30 minutes from our kitchen.
For Guatapé, El Retiro, La Ceja or Santa Fe de Antioquia, we travel with a full mobile setup, and travel for each shooting day appears as its own line on the quote. Our outdoor event catering experience at rural venues covers water, power and waste on sites without services.

Crew Dietary Needs
Before the first shooting day, we send the production a short dietary survey in English and Spanish that the crew can complete in two minutes. It asks about allergies, vegetarian and vegan diets, religious restrictions and medical diets, and the results go straight to our kitchen.
Meals for crew with restrictions are packed separately, labeled with the person's name, department and allergens, and kept apart from the buffet. Every hot lunch also includes a vegetarian main for anyone who decides on the day.
Foreign crews are often curious about Colombian food but cautious with spice and fried dishes in the first week. We keep a familiar option on every menu, such as grilled chicken, pasta or a grain bowl, alongside the local dish of the day.
Questions and answers
Film Set FAQs
Can you change the order if the shoot runs late?
Yes, our on-set lead adjusts meal timing with the assistant director on the day. Hot food in insulated Cambro carriers stays above 60 °C for about an extra hour, and if the day extends past 12 hours we can cook and deliver a second meal, with extra staff hours added to the day. Changes to the next day's headcount are made by email before 7:00 p.m.
Do you supply tents and tables on location?
Yes, we coordinate pop-up tents, folding tables, chairs and portable handwash stations through our partner suppliers, each one a separate line on the quote. For remote locations without power, we can also arrange a generator for the coffee and hot-holding equipment. Everything is set up before the crew breaks for the first meal and packed away after the wrap.
