Pool Party Catering in Medellín

Medellin Elite Catering caters pool parties at villas, fincas and rooftop pools across Medellín, with handheld food, frozen drinks and serving gear that will not shatter on a wet deck. We set up in the shade, keep the food safe in the sun and leave the pool area clean.

Our pool party hosts include groups renting a villa with a pool in Llanogrande or the Envigado hills, families celebrating a birthday at a finca, and residents throwing a Saturday party at their building's rooftop pool in El Poblado. Most pool days run 20 to 100 guests from late morning to sunset.

We have catered around Medellín since 2019, and pool parties have their own rulebook. Glass, wet floors, strong sun and swimmers reaching for food straight from the water all shape what we serve and how we serve it.

Our Pool Party Catering

Our pool party catering covers poolside food, drinks and staff for an afternoon around the water, set up well back from the pool edge. A typical day runs a grill or ceviche station, a bar with frozen drinks and a fruit table, with a server who keeps the trays full and clears empty cups.

We plan two waves of food: light bites when people arrive and a bigger round after swimming, when appetites peak around 2 or 3 p.m. Late in the afternoon come fruit cups, coffee and paletas, and our ice cream catering can add a full paleta cart for kids.

Rooftop pools are common in the towers covered by our catering in El Poblado service, while villa pools in the hills host most of our weekend pool days. If the pool is part of a bigger night with dinner and dancing, pair this page with our private party catering.

Pool days are popular from December to March, when the valley is at its driest and sunniest, and on long holiday weekends. Book those dates at least 2 weeks ahead, and earlier for December.

Poolside Menus

Poolside food should be handheld, eaten in two bites and safe at outdoor temperatures: skewers, ceviche cups, soft tacos and fruit. Nothing needs a knife, and nothing drips onto a swimsuit.

  • Grilled skewers: chicken with ají amarillo, beef with chimichurri, shrimp with garlic and lime, from a gas grill set back from the deck.
  • Ceviche cups: corvina or shrimp in lime with red onion and cilantro, with patacón chips, kept on crushed ice.
  • Soft tacos: al pastor pork, carnitas or grilled mushroom, assembled to order.
  • Arepas: small arepas with quesito and hogao, a local favorite after a swim.
  • Fruit cups: mango with lime and salt, pineapple, watermelon and coconut.

We portion food into individual cups and paper boats rather than shared bowls, which is more hygienic when people move between the pool and the table. For a fuller taco station with salsas and a cook, see our taco bar catering.

Frozen Drinks and Bar

Frozen drinks are the centerpiece of a pool bar: granizados, frozen cocktails and mocktails blended to order. A bartender runs the blenders and serves into shatterproof cups, so the deck stays safe.

Granizado is Colombian shaved ice soaked in fruit syrup and sometimes condensed milk, and we make it with lulo, mora (Andean blackberry) and maracuyá. Adults can have frozen mojitos, piña coladas and a mango margarita, all poured from spirits that carry the Antioquia tax stamp.

Mocktails cover kids and non-drinkers: frozen limonada de coco, a strawberry and mint slush and fresh watermelon juice. Swimmers dehydrate quickly under the Medellín sun, so a water station with ice goes out in the first hour.

Safety by the Pool

We never use glass by the pool: every cup, plate and bowl is shatterproof, and the food stays in the shade away from the water's edge. A broken glass near a pool usually means draining and cleaning it, which ends the party and leaves the owner with a long cleanup.

Our pool service uses polycarbonate tumblers and wine glasses, melamine plates and compostable bowls for single-use items. Most residential towers and many villas ban glass in pool areas in their house rules anyway, so this keeps you on good terms with the administration or the owner. Shatterproof drinkware and melamine plates are included in every staffed pool quote.

The buffet and bar stand at least 3 m back from the pool on a dry surface, with non-slip mats behind the bar and blender cables nowhere near the water. Cold food sits on ice below 5 °C, and anything perishable leaves the table after 2 hours in the heat.

Questions and answers

Pool Party FAQs

Do you use glassware by the pool?

No, we use only shatterproof drinkware and plates around a pool. Our polycarbonate glasses look and feel like glass, so cocktails still look good, and real glassware stays indoors or on a terrace well away from the water.

Can you cater a rooftop pool in El Poblado?

Yes, as long as the building's administración approves the event in writing. Under Ley 675 of 2001, the tower's internal rules set the pool area's capacity, hours, glass policy and use of the service elevator, so we ask for a copy and register our team at the portería before the party.
